T.J. Walsh's Pleading Infinity

In T.J. Walsh's funny and moving solo play, Pleading Infinity, Bob Donovan, Hollywood screenwriter, wrestles with life’s big questions including miraculous births, the nature of art, near death experiences, ghosts, UFOs, the creation of the universe, and, finally, the meaning of life.

"Some  artists' reputations are inextricably linked to Austin's FronteraFest.  T.J. Walsh began creating and performing his very funny monologues chronicling the life of screenwriter Bob Donovan at the first FronteraFest, returning each year with an update."  Michael Barnes, Austin American Statesman

CHARACTER:  Bob Donovan, screenwriter, dressed L.A. Casual, looks like a normal guy.  You'd like him.

PLACE:  His living room.  He's speaking to a good friend.

NOTES:  Bob knows how to pitch a story -- he is a great storyteller.  There is a passage of time between each monologue.  This play is in part about gaining wisdom with the passing years and experience.  The actor playing Bob should embrace this idea.  With wisdom comes simplicity.

CONTENTS:

"T.J. Walsh's skillfully performed If A Tree Falls.  This monologue, related by a beer guzzling Hollywood screenwriter with a fractured leg, shifts from brash comments on how best to scratch that unreachable itch to a sentimentalized account of his near death experience."  Jamie Smith, Austin American Statesman

THREE: House For Sale/Studio City/Cheap. Bob has a supernatural experience in a house he and his wife Nancy buy in Studio City, California

FOUR: Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Beauty.  Bob is present for a miraculous birth in a 7-11 on La Cienega Boulevard on Christmas Eve

"T.J. Walsh's Random Acts of Kindness and Senseless Beauty, another installment in the author's multi-year portrayal of screenwriter Bob Donovan, presents a sleekly designed and executed story about a miraculous birth in Southern California."  Jamie Smith, Austin American Statesman

FIVE: El Sobrante Times. Bob has the Hollywood meeting from Hell dealing with Starbucks, Waggle, Las Vegas and Harvard -- none having anything to do with his script but everything to do with changing his life
